Happy Pumpkin Day!
Hope you’re off guising tonight, like we used to do as kids. All this trick or treat stuff, we used to do that – dress up, do a party piece, get sweets. None of this threatening to put people’s windows in.
Anyway. I hope you’ve been to the shops to replenish all the sweets you bought for small ones but ate yourself. I know you did it!
Last Week
Okay. Feels like I’ve been pretty flat out recently. Two big edits back-to-back. All work and no play makes Ed a dull boy. I finished making all the changes to THE TURNING OF OUR BONES by Wednesday and started reading and editing through it on Thursday. Close to the end now, which is a good feeling, and I’m actually enjoying it. It’s less chase-y than a Cullen or a Fenchurch, with a lot more humour and dark character stuff. It’ll be interesting to see what you make of it when it arrives in February.
It’s available for preorder now. Finally!
So is FALSE START. I put it up to my mailing list on Friday and hundreds of people have downloaded it – I hope you’re all enjoying it. If you haven’t and want to grab your copy now, use this link and sign up to the list:

And you might want to check your spam folder if you haven’t got anything.
Early signs are positive – it goes live on Amazon tomorrow for £1.99 in case people don’t want to sign up and get books for nowt and £12.99 for a glorious hardback edition.
This Week
Well, it’s a final couple of days of editing THE TURNING OF OUR BONES before turning it over to John for his copy editing magic. He’s given me back Fenchurch 9, so I’ll turn that around and give it to Mare for her proofing magic. Gosh darn, I’ll have nothing to do!
Oh, I’ve got the outline for Marshall 3 to work on. It’s a VERY different book to 1 and 2, which lean heavily into his past – this one will all be about his present. And for those of you who enjoyed meeting Shunty in FALSE START, this will be his most-important book, I think.
I’ve been doing a bit of chatting about DIE ON MARS with Al, my agent, and we’re getting somewhere with how to repair it, but it’s still got a massive motivational hole left, so I’ll spend a lot of time figuring that bit out too.
And the clocks going back can get in the bloody sea. Horrible time of year. Ugh.
See you next week!
Cheers,
Ed
