Here’s this week’s. It’s a short one.
Music:
The Stones go disco, what’s not to love? Came out the month before I was born. And I genuinely like this track. While it’s camp as a row of tents, there’s a darkness to it. Stick it on and smile.
Last week
Well, I was due to go into hospital on Tuesday but there were no beds available at Borders General. Deep sigh. Meant I could go get Bessi back from kennels early, I suppose. And get on with a lot of gardening. Front and back lawns mowed, paths through one of the fields, 47 mole hills moved.
I worked on the edits for GUILT TRIP, Dodds 5. A few minor changes, in the scheme of things, tightening stuff and making things pop more. Reading it back the last couple of days and I’m really enjoying it, actually. While I’ve bowdlerised something old, that’s really just been a platform for this story. It flows on from the previous book in a good way, so there’s a real psychological theme running through it, which I really like. I was rushing it a bit as there was an outside chance I might’ve been going for a zap tomorrow (Tuesday).
This week
Well, I’ll be in hospital on Thursday to get my cardioversion, bed permitting. I’ll get a shock to my heart to switch it off and on again, like I’m a PC running Windows 95, and hopefully it’ll be back in normal (“sinus”) rhythm, with my atria behaving themselves. Honestly, all this for a BLOODY SMOOTHIE! So hopefully, I’ll be back to normal this week. If not this week, it’ll be the following Tuesday. Bloody covid. Almost went Michael Douglas in FALLING DOWN in Sainsbury’s on Tuesday, seeing all those people without masks on.
Anyway. I hope to finish the edit of GUILT TRIP tomorrow and send it to the copy editor.
It’s due out on the 1st July, but I’m looking for new readers to join my Advanced Readers Copy group. You’ll get the book early, before proofing, and for free, in exchange for an honest review on Amazon when it comes out. If you’re up for that, please email me by replying with a link to a couple of reviews of my books you’ve posted to Amazon. Thank you!
Have a great week.
Cheers,
Ed
Fingers crossed for you that it all goes ahead 🤞🏻
So, basically they're going to switch you off and then back on again? I'm still wearing a mask in shops, vets, dentist etc and will continue to do so.
