If you don't say it's very cold and it is actually very cold, then I’ll be miffed.
Anyway, the op was a success. Had a whole ward to myself in Surgery Recovery in Borders General Hospital. Zapped once, under for four minutes. Textbook. Ticker ticking away as normal. Got to stay on hell drugs for six weeks (it beasts your liver, so no booze, not that I should have any) until I see my consultant. Managed to get a few light walks in with her ladyship as I recover at my parents. Heading home tomorrow to get back to normal.
Anyway. Music.
I love this song. You probably know it from a car advert – I hope Mark E Smith got some cash out of it before he popped his clogs. They’re a fascinating band, defining experimental. And the thing with experiments is they mostly don’t work but you learn stuff from it. This is one of those tunes where they had clearly learned – it’s got hooks and a tune and a solid rhythm. Hope you enjoy it – HEY HEY HEY!
Last Week
Before I went into hospital, I managed to get Dodds 5 finished and off to John for copy editing (Mary, remind me to book you in for proofing thanks!). Quite enjoyed it, it’s got something to it and I think I’ll do more along those lines in future books. I’m moving away from the single POV whodunnit and trying to master a multiple POV whodunnit, which is tricker. I still want you to guess the wrong villain, but I want you to be more excited by it as some cat and mouse stuff is happening. I did that format a lot with the Max Carter books, but that shouldn’t put me off, should it?
This Week
Just getting back into the swing of things now. I’m in that position where I’ve got two projects with editors now and nothing pressing, so I’ll spend some time thinking through what I want to do. I could work on the new series under a pen name, but I want to hang fire on that a wee bit to see how some other stuff settles down. It might mean more Cullenverse books
Oh and Lost Cause came out. It’s selling pretty well considering it’s pretty different to my other books (though not *that* different). And the audiobook is pretty special, Angus has done an astonishing job on it. At some point, I’d love to get him to narrate the Cullen and Hunter books, but that’s a while away. But let me know what you make of Lost Cause!
Anyway, that’s me for another week. Hope you keep well this week. Oh and the tickets for Harrogate are on sale now, so get yourself a site pass. I’ll be there, hanging out and talking rubbish.
Cheers,
Ed
