Hey!
# Music
Listened to this lot over the weekend and forgot how much I love them. Their first album was incredible, but they did a mini-album before that wasn’t so good, then their second was a bit of a mess. This is the title track from their third, which has a string of three tracks as good as anyone’s, in my opinion. Hope you enjoy it:
(I’ve no idea if anything else they did after is as good, I’ve only dipped into some of it.)
# Last Week
Okay, so last’s week’s goal was to finish editing the outline for Marshall 5 and make sure I was happy with it. I even promised myself a little bit of writing, as a wee stretch.
Reader, I did. Marshall 5 is go! I’m seeming to write it a slower lick than previous books, but that’s due to some personal stuff that’ll come to a head tomorrow. The tick-tock (not TikTok!) method of editing yesterday’s writing before writing tomorrow’s editing definitely works. It gives me two passes at each chapter, which helps further down the tracks, but in the moment of writing a book, it’s helping keep the momentum going, and I get a chance to develop and refine character’s by basically touching a chapter twice in consecutive days. Four chapters are written and edited, which is slow for me but I’m really happy with the voice and characterisation.
Going back to a series like this is a weird phenomenon as you get back into the heads of characters you used to know. It’s a few months since I last wrote in that world and I’m feeling refreshed and excited to be back there with all the cast of characters and their many weird things.
# This Week
It’s going to be a week of writing. Ticking and tocking, back and forth and getting up to rhythm. Hopefully I can get up to 20k, which would be 20% of the book done. Fingers crossed!
Anyone looking to avoid spoilers, skip to the next section.
You were warned. Last chance!
This book is set in the Berwickshire coast, around Eyemouth, Coldingham and St Abb’s Head (famous for its appearance in one of those Avengers films – you know the sort!), so it’s a different location and one I knew rather than know now, so I’ll do a drive over there this week and reacquaint myself with the area. Should be good fun.
# Ending
That’s all – have a great week and enjoy all that Christmas shopping.
Cheers,
Ed
Wonderful, I love the Marshall series and characters. Hope things get sorted tomorrow.
